The music scene of Boston is anything but restricted to one or two different genres. Rather, it's a diverse and varied medley of different music types, allowing almost anyone to find a concert in or around the city by an artist that he or she likes. The shows happening in the Boston area this fall reflect this mixed spirit, with the appearances of artists ranging from Lil Yachty to Alice Cooper. Use this list as a guide to Boston's most anticipated performances of the upcoming month:

  • Kenny Chesney/Thomas Rhett - Gillette Stadium - Friday/Saturday, Aug. 25/26
    • This weekend, on both Friday and Saturday (Aug. 25/26), country music superstars Kenny Chesney and Thomas Rhett will be putting on dual concerts at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro. Despite its northern location, the Boston area is a hot spot for a number of must-see country concerts during the summer, hosting the likes of Sam Hunt, Toby Keith, Luke Bryan, and Zac Brown Band. Kenny Chesney and Thomas Rhett may be your last chance to catch one of these fun and festive shows.
  • Lil Yachty - The Wilbur - Saturday, Aug. 26
    • Replacing cowboy hats with a head full of red, beaded braids, the young rap star Lil Yachty will be performing at the Wilbur this Saturday (Aug. 26). The rapper, who is perhaps most known for co-creating "Broccoli" with fellow rapper D.R.A.M., will be filling the theater with his iconic low, mumbling rap style this weekend in a show you don't want to miss.
  • Deep Purple/Alice Cooper - Xfinity Center - Aug. 27
    • Taking a sharp turn from the style and generation of Lil Yachty, the classic rock band Deep Purple will be performing at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield alongside the metal legend Alice Cooper. Deep Purple is almost undisputedly most well known for "Smoke on the Water," which has served as both a classic hit and an iconic riff for beginning guitarists. Alice Cooper is surely known for his classic song "School's Out," and while that may only be true for the next few days, the concert is a must-see for rock fans.
  • The Weeknd - TD Garden - Sept. 12
    • Rising in worldwide fame in recent years, The Weeknd has been dominating music charts with songs such as "I Can't Feel My Face," "Starboy," and "I Feel it Coming," three songs you will certainly get to hear live if you see him at the TD Garden on Sept. 12.
  • Ed Sheeran - TD Garden - Sept. 22/23
    • Although much of the talk surrounding him has been about his recent Game of Thrones cameo, British pop star Ed Sheeran will be performing at the TD Garden on Sept. 22 and 23. Constantly churning out hits like "Thinking Out Loud," "Lego House," and "Shape of You" for several years, Sheeran puts on concerts that appeal to fans of many different kinds of music, making either of his back-to-back Boston shows an experience you won't want to skip.
